Abstract

PURPOSE:To prolong life of an electromagnetic transducer and the recording surface of a medium by securing the stable attitude of the electromagnetic transducer in contact with the magnetic recording medium and then by holding the electromagnetic transducer in parallel to the recording surface of the medium when the transducer is separated from the medium. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic head 11, when in contact with magnetic disk 1, is held by depression activating members 9 and 10, made of leaf springs, etc., being enabled to follow up the undulation of magnetic disk 1 and required contact pressure is applied. Then when magnetic head 11 is to separate from magnetic disk 1, depression activating members 9 and 10 are hooked by support member 15 made of a slider to prevent depression activating members 9 and 10 from deforming elastically. In the constitution like this, magnetic head 11 holds a stable attitude when in contact with disk 1 and keeps itself in parallel to the magnetic disk when separating from it without slanting, so that the life can be prolonged.
