Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare an asphalt composition having improved low-temperature characteristics and excellent low-temperature resistance without much increasing the viscosity of the composition at the mixing stage, by compounding an asphalt with a molten rubber having low glass transition temperature.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. of asphalt, e.g. straight asphalt having a glass transition temperature of about -20°C is mixed with 2W300pts.wt., pref. 5W100pts.wt. of molten vulcanized rubber and/or green rubber having a glass transition temperature lower than that of the asphalt, pref. by ≥20°C.
EFFECT: Since the waste tire, etc. can be used as the raw material, the process is resource saving and economical.
