Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a curable composition having excellent tensile strength, tensile modulus, and adhesivity, and useful for outdoor electrical insulation, by blending butyl rubber, an ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer, and an ethylene- ethyl acrylate copolymer at specific ratios.
CONSTITUTION: A composition obtained by blending (A) 20W85wt% of butyl rubber, (B) 10W75wt% of an ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer, and (C) 5W 40wt% of an ethylene-ethyl acrylate copolymer containing 6W30wt% of ethyl acrylate. The composition is cured by adding necessary amounts of a curing agent, a filler, an antioxidant, etc., followed by heating.
