Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an optically transmitting material with a very little optical loss by feeding a compound contg. one of C, N, O, etc. and halogen and not contg. hydrogen into a clad material in a vapor phase while generating nonequilibrium plasma before melt-sticking the clad mateial and a core material to prevent the heat deformation of the clad material. CONSTITUTION:When a core material is melt-stuck to the inner wall of a tubular clad material and spun to manufacture an optically transmitting material, plasma discharge is generated in the clad material tube with 0.2MHz-30GHz high frequency power, and a vapor phase heat treating agent is fed into the clad material tube in a vapor phase. The agent is a compound contg. one or more amoung C, N, S and Se and one or more kinds of halogen, not contg. hydrogen, and fluidizing at room temp. It purifies the inside of the clad material and the surface of the core material under the thermal and chemical action of nonequilibrium plasma.
