Abstract
PURPOSE:To allow an ultraviolet-ray excitation type ozonizer to double as an illuminator as well as attain the purification of environment by applying a fluorescent substance having luminous intensity in the visible region to the inner wall of the external pipe of the ozonizing reaction of the ozonizer. CONSTITUTION:Suitable fluorescent substance 5 having luminous intensity in the visible region is applied to the inner wall of the external pipe of ozonizing reaction made of lead glass or the like and enclosing low voltage mercury discharge tube 1 made of quartz glass or the like. An oxygen-contg. gas is fed from inlet 6, ozonized with light emitted from tube 1, and taken out of outlet 7 as ozone gas. At this time, light emitted from tube 1 simultaneously excites substance 5 to allow it to emit visible light. Thus, the energy of emitted light is used to excite substance 5 without lowering the ozone generating efficiency, whereby tube 1 can be used as an illuminator to effectively utilize electric energy.
