Abstract

PURPOSE: To secure firm fixation of a polycrystalline sintered body with homogeneity by enabling uniform heating and uniform pressurizing especially when extra- high pressure and temperature are given in the preparation of the sintered body of high hardness for cutting obtained by fixing a polycrystalline sintered substance such as boron nitride of cubic crystal to a part of a substrate such as carbide alloy.
CONSTITUTION: Inside a vessel formed of the metal having high melting point, such as Mo, are arranged alternately base bodies 11 formed of carbide alloy wherein carbon rings 8 provided with a pressure medium 7 composed of salt or hexagonally- crystalline boron nitride are put in the inner-peripheral part thereof and hard particles 10 such as particles of cubically-crystalline boron nitride in the central concave part 9a thereof. In addition, the carbon rings 8 are arranged on both end sides of the vessel, and a direct-resistance heating circuit is constituted by the rings 8, the base bodies 11 and the metal plate 12 having high melting point, whereby the sintering under extra-high pressure is made possible in a short time. Since a polycrystalline sintered body such as the cubically-crystalline boron nitride is fixedly formed on a part of the base bodies 11 monolithically in this way, the sintered body produced is made firm, while the time for preparation can be reduced.
