Abstract

PURPOSE: To measure and compensate the offset value without troubling the user, by providing a means which discriminates the force applying state and the no- force applying state from each other in the touch panel.
CONSTITUTION: When force is not applied onto the panel, induced noise dependent upon the commercial frequency propagated to the panel through a part of the human body for contact by conductive film 3 is not generated. At this time, outputs of force detectors 2a, 2b and 2c which detect magnitudes of components of the force at three fulcrums of the external force applied to one point on panel 1 are taken into offset holding circuits 6a, 6b and 6c through amplifiers 5a, 5b and 5c. When force is applied onto panel 1 as offset, the signal having offset eliminated by subtraction in subtracting circuits 7a, 7b and 7c is input to coordinate operating circuit 10 to obtain input position coordinates.
