Abstract

PURPOSE:To make possible highly accurate connector connection without effect on working accuracy of parts by using a reference plug fixed with a chip provided with optical fiber supporting grooves as a reference and peforming positioning of the chip of the other plug. CONSTITUTION:A chip 1 provided with grooves 2... supporting optical fibers B... is held fixed to one substrate 3 of the substrates 3, 3' which are positioned by the same adapter 6 and are mutually joined, whereby the reference plug is formed. A chip 1' is adjusted of position within the substrate 3' in such a manner that the fibers 13... positioned by said plug and the grooves 2'... align, after which an adhesive agent or the like is flowed to fix the chip 1' to the substrate 3', whereby the plug is formed. The positioning of the optical fiber is accurately performed without any influence on the working accuracy of the width, etc. of the chips.
