Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize a high-speed and high-resolution recording with a low-level recording voltage, by using the recording substance, the recording layer, the conduction layer of the resistor the surface resistance of which has a fixed value and the insulated layer and then applying the discharge current to the conduction path along the recording electrode and the surface of the resistance layer. CONSTITUTION:One end of the conductive resistance layer 20, which forms a recording substance along with the inductive recording layer 19 and the insulated layer 21, is grounded via the power source VB. And the recording pulse is applied to the electrode 22 from the ground-connected recording pulse voltage source 23. As a result, the discharge current corresponding to the surface resistance of the layer 20 flows to the closed circuit comprising the electrode 22, the layer 20 whose surface resistance is 10<5>-10<12>OMEGA/cm<2>, the source VB and the source 23. Thus the uneven charging of the layer 19 can be prevented. At the same time, the discharge voltage is shared by the voltage of the source 23 and the voltage of the source VB, and thus the application voltage to the electrode 22 is reduced. Furthermore, the electrostatic capacity of the layer 20 can be increased more than the layer 19. In such way, a high-speed and high-resolution recording is possible with a low-level recording voltage.
