Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration of comparison electrode and sensor and enable speedy measurement to be resumed, by filling the cell with the secondary standard solution during measurement waiting period. CONSTITUTION:After measurement of ion concentration of liquid being tested, three-way valve 28 is connected in the direction of arrow mark h and roller pump 30 is rotated in the upper left-side direction as shown in the figure to clean the outer wall of nozzle 1 by supplying the secondary standard solution 18 through the pipe 25 to cylindrical member 22. At the same time, roller pump 7 is rotated in the direction of arrow mark b to draw the secondary standard solution 18 supplied to cylindrical member 22 from nozzle 1 through the pipe 6 and clean the cell 9 equipped with comparison electrode 10 and ion sensor 11. After cleaning, roller pump 7 is stopped. A little before stopping roller pump, roller pump 30 is rotated in the right direction as shown in the figure and at the same time, three-way valve is connected with the direction of arrow mark i to return the secondary standard solution 18 in the cylindrical member 22 to the vessel 20. Air layer is formed at the end of nozzle 1 and the cell is filled with the secondary standard solution.
