Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase packing effect by a method wherein a floating ring for sealing is provided on the pressure-rise side of a threaded axis-packing tube body and thereby the flow rate of gas between the tube body and a rotary axis is reduced.
CONSTITUTION: A bearing support 12 provided with a gas chamber 11 and an oil exhaust orifice 7 is fitted round a rotary axis 5 between a bearing 3 and a threaded axis-packing tube body 2. Between the right end surface of the bearing support 12 and the end surface on the pressure-rise side of the tube body 2 is provided a floating ring 13 pressed by a wave-form spring 15. Since the ring 13 is movable in the radius direction, a gap between this and the rotary axis 5 can be made small. And, since the thread groove 9 of the threaded axis-packing tube body 2 is communicated with the gas chamber 11 through the intermediary of the floating ring 13 having a small gap against the rotary axis 5, the influence of the pressure in the gas chamber 11 turns to be small.
