Abstract

PURPOSE:To surely prevent malfunctions such as commutation failure and make possible continuous emission operation of a super high speed by forming the charging circuit of a commutation capacitor after the start of emission operation by using a switching element of an extremely small resistance component. CONSTITUTION:When a flash start signal is supplied to a terminal 11, a trigger 10 operates and the signal is supplied to an auxiliary switching element 13 and a delay circuit 12, then the element 13 conducts to rise the potential of the connection point (a). The potential fluctuating component of the point (a) is then differentiated 14 and is applied to a gate 5' of a main switching element 5, so that the element 5 conducts. This causes electric current to flow in the element 13, commutation capacitor 6 and element 5 and causes the capacitor 6 to be charged and this completes the preparation for emission of a flash discharge tube 4. In addition, the discharge tube 4 is triggered by the output of the delay circuit 12, whereby emission is accomplished. In this way, the capacitor 6 is rapidly charged via the switching element and this makes possible the continuous emission of a super high speed.
