Abstract
PURPOSE:To simplify constitution and to make the unit highly reliable by exercising control by a drive control circuit over a DC brushless generator that drives a magnetic disk on the basis of a clock signal taken out of the magnetic disk on which the clock signal synchronizing with a turning state is previously recorded. CONSTITUTION:From magnetic head 5n under magnetic disks 1a-1m, a clock signal is supplied to position control circuit 21. With external control signal SC, control circuit 21 fixes the traveling direction and extent of carriage 8 and then flows electric current that corresponds to them to position magnetic heads 5a-5n on assigned tracks. At the lower end of spindle 2, a DC brushless electric motor is provided and exciting current to its fixed winding 26 is brought under the switching control of drive control circuit 27 through a clock pulse, so that magnetic disks 1a- 1m will turn together with rotor 24. Consequently, the constitution of the unit is simplified and its reliability can be improved.
