Abstract
958,463. Electric motors. USINES GUSTAVE STAAR S.A. Feb. 20, 1962 [July 28, 1961], No. 6535/62. Heading H2A. [Also in Division G5] A motor for incrementally advancing a record tape on which are recorded transverse sound tracks (see Division G5) comprises a rotor 11 carrying permanently magnetized poles 13, 14 of alternating polarity and an equal number of integral non- magnetic cogged treads 22, the poles facing an equal number of stator poles 19, 20 formed by interlacing a pair of coronet-form members 17, 18, between which is a winding 15 which polarizes alternate poles oppositely. The winding is energized in alternate directions in accordance with movements of the recording head (Figs. 9, 10, not shown and Specification 958,464, Division G5) to advance the record tape in onepole increments. To provide for drive in a selected preferred direction, a spring-biased roller 15 (Fig. 3) engaging between the treads 22, ensures that the rotor comes to rest at an angle α offset from the neutral position in a direction determined by a solenoid 37, which is energized to provide a reverse drive. Rapidly-succeeding steps, for back- and forward-spacing of the record tape, may be provided by closing switches 53, 54 (Fig. 11), whereupon a self - sustaining system 10, 49, 43 operates the motor independently of the recording-head movements. The extent of this movement may be predetermined by a thick-tooth mechanism, drivable from the motor and opening stop contacts (Figs. 12, 13, not shown).
