PURPOSE:To increase the efficiency for the purity adjustment, by applying the magnetic field to the side surface of the color TV cathode-ray tube via the magnetic field generator and then detecting the fluorescent width of the fixed pattern by giving a fixed shift to the position of the electronic beam. CONSTITUTION:The electronic guns 5R, 5G and 5B of the color TV cathode-ray tube 1 are energized by the picture pattern generator 8 and the driving circuit 7 to secure the display of the prescribed picture pattern. And the mislanding state is caused at the periphery of the display screen 1a of the tube 1 by the magnetic field generator 9. The photoelectric detectors 11 and 12 are provided in opposition to each other at the periphery of the screen 1a, and then the fluorescent width is detected from the display beam of the picture pattern. The detection values of the detectors 11 and 12 are stored in the memory 14, and the prescribed operation is carried out by the arithmetic circuit 15 to obtain the degree of compensation.
