Abstract
PURPOSE:To fix securely a blind plug in the multitubular type heat exchanger by a method wherein when an open end of a heat transfer tube is to be shut by the blind plug because of occurrence of a fine pore thereon, an axial connecting hole is provided on the blind plug which is to be installed later and is shut after this blind plug is fixed. CONSTITUTION:In repairing the heat transfer tube 3 having a pore 5 which occurred on the intermediate portion of the tube, first, a tapered blind plug 6 is struck into an open end of the heat transfer tube 3 on one side of an exposed fixed tube plate 4. Then, another blind plug 7 is struck into the other open end. This blind plug 7 has the same taper shape as the blind plug 6 and is provided with an axial connecting hole 8 and a female screw 9 is cut on the inner surface of the connecting hole 8. Since the connecting hole 8 is provided, this blind plug 7 can be struck securely, keeping the before-mentioned blind plug 6 from removing on account of increase of the inner pressure of the tube caused when the plug 6 is struck. After that, the connecting hole 8 is stopped with a setscrew 10.
