Abstract

PURPOSE: Titled welding equipment which consists in providing means of detecting the mutual electrical conduction of concentrically disposed and mutually electrically insulated shielding gas nozzles of double construction, and which permits detection of the sticking of spatter on said nozzles.
CONSTITUTION: Where no spatter 12 has been stuck, an inner shielding nozzle 1a and an outer shielding nozzle 1b are held perfectly electrically insulated, hence a buzzer 15 does not operate. Next when the spatter 12 is stuck and covers the nozzles 1a, 1b, both nozzles are put into electrically the same potential by the spatter and electric current flows across the nozzles 1a, 1b from a battery 14 thereby operating the buzzer 15 and announcing the sticking of the spatter 12 to the operator. The experiments indicate that if the clearance between the nozzles 1a and 1b is made 2W2.5mm the timing at which shielding failure occurs and the timing when the buzzer 15 operates coincide approximately.
