Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture the steel pipe provided with the firmly plated layer, by seam welding the roughly surfaced steel strip to obtain the steel pipe, by applying the cooling and pickling process under the required condition for removing the oxide film, and by applying the plating process.
CONSTITUTION: The steel strip is introduced into the blast room 15 through the required route, and is provided with the desired rugged surface by blasting the abrasive. This strip is sent to the forming machine 23 through the surface cleaner 21 and is cold formed into the tubular shape; after that, the seam welding is applied to the jointing part by the welder 25. The temperature of the steel pipe surface is controlled with water by the temperature controller 27 in order to cool the pipe for making the temperature of the weld bead coated with thick oxide film and its neighborhood to be higher than temperatures of other parts. Then the oxide film is romoved from the pipe surface by the pickling apparatus 31. The antioxidant flux is applied to the pipe surface by the flux applicator 35. Next, the metal plating is applied to the pipe surface by the hot dipping apparatus 39, or the plastic coating is applied. Thus obtained steel pipe is cooled and cut finishing the steel pipe provided with the firmly bonded plated layer.
