Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent a generation of improper positioning of a rim band for a bulb, by detecting the position of a face level on the basis of a positioning pad for the bulb and providing a servo mechanism that determines a relative position of the rim band or the like for the face level. CONSTITUTION:On the basis of a positioning pad for a bulb 2 of a cathode-ray tube a position of the face level of the bulb 2 is detected, and a servo mechanism that determines the relative position of a rim band 3 and tension band 9 for the face level is provided. Then, for instance, the bulb 2 is held to a foundation base board 40 by a vacuum chuck 8 supported to a strut 11, and contact pieces 13 fixed to a base board 4 supported to the foundation base board 40 through a spring 12 and oil hydraulic cylinders 15 are contacted to the positioning pad on the side wall of a funnel of the bulb 2. Then the position of the face level is detected by air microcrometers 14 fixed to the base board 4 to servo control the hydraulic cylinders so that the relative position of the face level for the contact pieces 13 may be within a permissible range.
