Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a color copied image by photo-electrophoresis superior in color separation and sensitivity, by adding a specified thiopyrylium dye as a sensitizer to a photoconductive composition.
CONSTITUTION: A thiopyrylium dye represented by formula I (A is formula II, III, IV, or V; Z⊖ is anion; X is H, aryl or alkyl optionally substituted by halogen, NO2, alkoxy, or the like; and R1, R2 are the same or different alkyl groups) is added as a sensitizer of a photoconductive composition in an amount of 0.0001W30pts.wt. per 100pts. wt. photoconductive composition. An image especially superior in 3 color separation is obtained in color copying by adding said dye to the particles to be used in photo-electrophoresis. These thiopyrylium dyes do not have secondary absorption bands near 400nm different from conventional pyrylium dye, and they are not photosensitive to the blue region in the visible light region, especially the light in 400W450nm, thus permitting them to be superior as a spectral sensitizer, and color separation efficiency to be enhanced.
