Abstract
PURPOSE: To control the temperature of lubricating oil, by providing in a container a heat accumulator containing a heat accumulating agenr of prescribed melting point and by connecting the heat accumlator to the lubricating oil in an oil pan through a heat pipe and utilizing heat generated by an engine.
CONSTITUTION: The temperature of lubricating oil in an oil pan 3 rises according as an engine operates. When the temperature of the lubricating oil exceeds that of a heat accumulator 1, heat is transferred toward the interior of a container 7 through a heat pipe 2. When the temperature of a heat accumulating agent 12 of melting point higher than about 120°C reaches the melting point, the agent 12 is molten. The heat supplied to the agent during its melting the temperature of the agent and is stored in the agent 12. When the temperature of the lubricating oil falls and becomes lower than that of the heat accumulating agent 12 due to the stoppage of the engine, the heat is transferred from the heat accumulator 1 through the heat pipe 2 to prise the temperature of the lubricating oil 14 in the oil pan 3. The temperature of the molten agent 12 falls and the heat supply therefrom decreases as the heat transfer from the heat accumulator 1 progresses. When the heat accumulating agent 12 solidifies, solidification heat is generated to continue the heating of the lubricating oil.
