Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare polyester prepolymer having excellent adhesivity, by copolymerizing acid component comprising terephthalic acid and an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid with a glycol component comprising trimethylpentanediol.
CONSTITUTION: An acid component comprising (pref. 70W40mol% of) aromatic dibasic acids composed mainly of terephthalic acid and (pref. 30W60mol% of) an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, is copolymerized with a glycol component containing ≥40mol% of 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol to obtain the objective copolymer pref. having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.4W1.2dl/g.
USE: Coating composition. The prepolymer is dissolved in a solvent such as methyl ethyl ketone to a concentration of 30W60vol%, applied to the substrate, and dried.
