Abstract

PURPOSE: To separate and recover chloroprene from the low b.p. components of the dehydrochlorination product of 3,4-dichlorobutene-1, in high yield, by evaporating or distilling the product, thereby separating to low b.p. components and high b.p. components.
CONSTITUTION: In the preparation of chloroprene by the dehydrochlorination of 3,4-dichlorobutene-1 in an aqueous solution of an alkali metal hydroxide in the presence of tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol, the dehydrochlorination product is separated, by evaporation or distillation, to low b.p. components comprising chloroprene, water and unreacted 3,4-dichlorobutene-1 (pref. reused in the reaction), and high b.p. components comprising tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol (pref. reused in the reaction) and alkali metal chloride, and then chloroprene is separated (pref. by introducing directly into a crystallizer) from the low b.p. components.
EFFECT: The polymerization of chloroprene can be suppressed, and the process can be carried out with low heat consumption.
