Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent corrosion effectively at the joint buried of a steel pipe coated with a high-grade anticorrosion material by welding the joint after it is coated on the circumference thereof with a heat-shrinking plastic sheet surrounding the beveled section through a backing strip and covered with a waterproof clamping plate to be tied therearound. CONSTITUTION:The joint of a steel pipe is coated with an adiabatic material 5 in the proximity of the beveled section 3 after a backing strip is brought into contact with the circumference thereof which is clear of a coating layer 2 of a high-grade anticorrosion material. The adiabatic material layer is covered with a thermoplastic resin sheet 11 and then, coated with a heat-shrinking resin sheet 8 spreading over both coating layers 2 and 2 of pipes to be connected. To press the resin sheet 8 evenly, it is clamped with a clamping plate 14 in which a high-foaming soft plastic sheet 12 having a concave section 15 is bonded on a steel plate 7 or the like through a low-foaming hard plastic sheet 13. Under such a condition, while a welding is made at the beveled section 3, the sheet 8 is shrinked by the welding heat and adheres to the pipe body and the coating layers with an adhesive coated on the inner surface thereof.
