Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the development of skid mark on heated steel material in heating the steel material in a heating furnace, by applying heat reflecting paint to the surface of the steel material excepting the parts which correspond to the positions just above the skids when the steel comes to the position adjacent to the charging inlet for the steel material. CONSTITUTION:Plural steel material W1-W4 are charged by a pusher 14 through an charging inlet 15 into a heating furnace 11 while sliding on skids 12a, 12b. Heat reflecting paint contg. alumina is sprayed to the surface of the steel material W with spray guns 2a-2g, which are so arranged that unpainted portions 4, 4 are formed just above the parts 16 where the steel material W comes in contact with the skids 12a, 12b. On the right side just above the parts 16 of the steel material W, where the steel material W is in contact with the skids, are formed unpainted portions 4, 4 100-250mm. in breadth, then the steel material W is charged into the heating furnace 11. Radiation heat in the furnace is reflected from the surface of the steel material by the heat reflecting paint so that painted portions are heated to a temp. equal to that of unpainted portions, which are heated insufficiently because of the contact with skids, hereby the whole steel material is heated uniformly at a constant temp.
