Abstract

The coke slides down an inclined surface onto a flat platform. It is swept off the platform onto the conveyor by a mechanical extractor which moves to and fro across the width of the platform. A protection complex comprising a heat detector, a water spray and a control is fixed in such a way that it moves across the platform in front of the extractor, thus detecting and cooling any excessively hot coke before the extractor sweeps it off the platform. The appts. gives efficient cooling while using very few protection complexes.
