PURPOSE:To make it possible to vary filter characteristics by constituting a filter whose transfer function G*(Z) as to the Z plane is expressed by a specific formula and then by varying a variable coefficient in the above-mentioned specific formula. CONSTITUTION:Input terminal 11 is connected to the input side of delay unit 1N-2 among the (N-1)-number cascaded delay units 1N-2-11 with a time lag of T seconds equal to the sampling period of an input signal. The (N-1)-number arithmetic stages 2N-2-20 consisting of variable multiplier 12 that provides multiplication by variable coefficient K* of the filter whose transfer function G*(Z) as to the Z plane is shown by the formula and adder 15 that performs addition between the multiplication output passed through the series circuit of delay units 13 and 14 of T seconds in time lag and that arriving without passing through the circuit are cascaded while multiplier 12 and adder 15 are regarded as the output and the input side respectively. The output of adder 15 of arithmetic stage 20 is supplied to output terminal 16.
