Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent tool holders from falling off at the time when replacement arms rotate or stop by a method wherein two kinds of tool holders are securely gripped by a pair of replacement arms at the same position. CONSTITUTION:A rack 45 is slid by the action of a hydraulic cylinder 48, rocking arms 35a and 35b are caused to rock, and a large diametered tool holder is gripped by gripping claws 24a and 24b. The gripping claws 24a and 24b are applied with an opening force due to the inertia or centrifugal force of the tool holder. When the angle alpha between the rocking arm 35a and a link 33a is at a predetermined value, the arm 35a is self-locked to prevent the gripping claw 24a from opening and to grip the tool holder securely. In the case of gripping a small-diametered tool holder by the gripping claws 24a and 24b, the angle between a link 33b and the rocking arm 35b for operating the gripping claw 24b is set at a predetermined value, to lock the gripping claws 24a and 24b and to grip the small-diametered tool holder securely.
