Abstract

PURPOSE: To destroy emulsion and separate into an oil layer, a water layer, and a gummed scum by a method wherein sodium hydroxide is added to the waste product of printing emulsified paste and is stirred.
CONSTITUTION: Sodium hydroxide is added to the waste printing paste which is discharged from a print factory and is in the form of a strong emulsion and the mixture is vigorously stirred. This destroys the emulsion of paste and separates into the upper oil layer, lower water layer, and the intermediate scum floating layer. This is separated by means of an oil-water separator. This simple method and device allows an inexpensive treatment of waste of printing material.
