Abstract
PURPOSE: To make it possible to measure the level of a liquid such as liquid helium or the like using an element in which there is no possibility of breaking or sagging of wire, at high sensivity by coating an insulation base plate with a film of a superconductive material and providing a heater electrically insulated from the film, at one end of the film.
CONSTITUTION: With one side of an FRP insulation base plate 5, a mask having a zigzag opening is brought into contact, and evaporation of a superconductive material such s Nb-Ti or the like is applied thereto to form a narrow zigzag superconductive film 6. Shell coatings 7 and 8 for leading out terminals are provided at the upper and lower ends of the film 6 by the same evaporation process and a heater 9 electrically insulated from the film 6 is wound around the upper end of the base plate. By this arrangement, break or sag of wires is not introduced as compared with the conventional element using this wire. Further, by suitably selecting the thickness, width and total extension of the element, the resistance value can be made larger than that of the conventional element by one to two figures, and the level of an extremely low temperature liquid such as liquid helium can be continunously measured at a high sensitivity.
