Abstract

PURPOSE: To effect uniform gas flow and uniform cooling of sintered ore so that its latent heat is effectively recovered by a method wherein sintered ore selected to have particles size higher than a specified value is brought into contact with gas in counterflow manner in a vertical cooler.
CONSTITUTION: A sintered ore is discharged from a sintering machine 1 and is handled by a sieve 4 so that sintered ore with particles size less than 4mm is removed. The sintered ore having particles size more than 4mm is accepted by the sieve 4 and is charged into a vertical cooler 3 so that it forms layers in the cooler 3. A gas guided into the cooler through a blower 7 is brought into contact with these layers in countercurrent manner so that the uniform gas flow is formed and thereby the sintered ore is uniformly cooled. Said procedure eliminates remarkable difference berween the temperatures of the gas and the sintered ore at the outlet of the cooler 3 and results in an effective heat recovery.
