Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the number of parts and fabrication costs by performing time control of setting time required for taking in a number of pulse train signals which correspond to strength under knocking conditions, using a software timer. CONSTITUTION:A knock sensor 30 outputs a number of pulse train signals which correspond to strength under knocking conditions and enters the pulse train signals to a CPU12. The CPU12 receives the first pulse of the pulse train signals by interruption and at the same time operates a software timer and counts the pulse number of pulse train signals received during the operation of the software timer and computes revised values of ignition time base on the discrete values. An ignition signal is generated from an ignition coil 66 at the revised ignition timing.
