Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent positively the dragging phenomenon of brake pads when the braking are relieved, by mounting spring means between a pair of brake pads so that it may function to space apart therebetween.
CONSTITUTION: Between brake pads 3L, 3R, which will be urged against a disk rotor 1 by the action of pistons 12L, 12R, is arranged a spring 30 that can act to space the brake pads away from the rotor 1. This spring 30 comprises a resilient force rendering portion 33 including bifurcated portions 31L, 31R, and their connecting portion 32, and parallel legs 34L, 34R depending therefrom and having engaging portions 36L, 36R at their lower ends. To control the movement of both of the pads 3L, 3R away from each other due to the spring 30, ring members 41L, 41R having a rectangular configuration in cross section are fitted onto respective pistons 12L, 12R under prescribed frictional force, and in the portions of the cylinder portions 5L, 5R corresponding to the ring members are formed annular grooves 51L, 51R.
