Abstract

PURPOSE: A pyrogenic composition that is prepared by adding a water-soluble hydroxylamine inorganic acid salt as a reaction accelerator to a metal having a higher ionization tendency than hydrogen, thus being suitably used for disposable body warmers because it generates heat rapidly by reaction with water and oxygen to maintain high temperatures for many hours.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition comprises, as the effective components, (A) a metal having a higher ionization tendency than hydrogen, preferably powdery iron and (B) a water-soluble hydroxylamine inorganic acid salt such as hydroxylamine hydrochloride or hydroxylammonium sulfate, which is not always required to be high purity, as a reaction accelerator, thus generating heat by reaction with water and oxygen. The amounts of component B, the water employed and the water retention agent are more than 1 part, 10W100 parts and 10W100 parts per 100 parts of component A by weight respectively.
