Abstract

PURPOSE:To simpify a recording circuit, by detecting the optically detectable mark of a magnetic tape optically and by stopping running of the magnetic tape by this detection. CONSTITUTION:Tape 1 is caused to run in the direction indicated by arrow A, and tape 1 is stopped at a control distance when the optical detecting means detects it in the position of left mark 2. When tape 1 is started for photographing of the next still picture, tape 1 runs the approach-run distance until tape 1 starts recording stably. When tape 1 runs the length of REC (recording region) corresponding to the recording region, right mark 2 is detected to stop recording, and tape 1 is stopped. By repeating this operation, still pictures are recorded. Since the recording position is clarified by mark 2 for tape 1 where plural still pictures are recorded in this manner, reproducing is performed while regarding the region from mark 2 of tape 1 to NR (nonrecording region) as a start point of recording region. Since the position of mark 2 is the terminal of the recording region, the tape is stopped in this position to terminate reproducing.
