Abstract

PURPOSE: To interrupt and restart the recording and reproduction of an endless tape easily, rapidly and securely by stopping the endless tape after running it by a fixed length in interruption mode by a pause mechanism and then by running it by the fixed length in restart mode as well.

CONSTITUTION: While reproduction is interrupted by a reproduction interruption signal from interruption detecting circuit 7 through a pause mechanism, endless tape 1 runs by a fixed length through servo circuit 8 and then stops smoothly. Simultaneously, a difference between the clock count value of counter circuit 13 based upon the mark position of tape 1 and that stored in memory circuit 14 of tape 1 is calculated and in accordance with the tape stop position, a high or low-level signal is held in holding circuit 17. Then, circuit 8 is controlled by a restart signal to run the tape as long as more than or less than one round in accordance with the signal of holding circuit 17 and its running speed reaches a fixed value near an interruption point, so that reproduction will restart from the interruption point. Recording is similarly performed and the interruption and restart of recording and reproduction of the endless tape can be performed easily, rapidly and securely.
