Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the device to be used for daylight films, etc. by using an iron- iodide-sealed metal halide lamp, making its emission light length ≤1/20 the maximum length of the exposure plane and forming the lamp to the specific relation between its arc length and lamp input electric power.
CONSTITUTION: An iron iodide-sealed metal halide lamp 15 having an optical axis approximately parallel to exposure plane glass 8 is provided. The emission light length of this lamp 15 is ≤1/20 the maximum length of the exposure plane glass 8; in addition, the mercury vapor pressure during lighting of the lamp 15 is limited to ≤10 atmospheric pressure and the arc length L cm and lamp input power P kW of the lamp 15 to the relation of 2×P1/2<L<3.4×P1/2. As a result, the production costs of the lamp 15 become inexpensive and the life becomes longer.
