Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the front tension detecting error generated by filtering the back tension, when the front tension of the i-th stand is to be obtained from the rolling torque, the rolling load, and the filtered back tension, by changing the time constant of the noise elimination at a specified timing. CONSTITUTION:Before the lock-on timing, at which the reference torque arm is operated just before the rolled material 1 is fed to the (i+1)-th stand 3, the time constant of the back tension (front tension of the former stand) filter 4 is made small in order to make the phase delay small. Just after the lock-on, in order to eliminate the noise component of the detected tension waveform as much as possible, the time constant is made large and is set to a specified value. On this purpose, the filter's time constant changing device 8 is installed in order to make the phase delay small between the true back tension waveform A1 and the filter's output signal waveform A2 just after the material 1 is fed to the i-th stand. Hereby, the back tension error DELTATi-1L becomes small, and the normal error DELTATi of the front tension also becomes small.
