Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a highly efficient feeding fish culture system without using an artificial feed, by growing wolffia or duckweed (Lemnaceae) in a mixture of a photosynthetic bacteria culturing liquid and a minute algae culturing liquid in the presence of water fleas and rotifers.
CONSTITUTION: A photosynthetic bacteria culturing liquid obtained from a hog yard 1 is stored in a tank 4, and a minute algae culturing liquid botained from a fish culture system 2 is stored in another tank 3. The liquids in the tanks 3 and 4 are mixed together in a culturing liquid mixing tank 7, and supplied to a tank 5 for culturing wolffia and duckweed. Water fleas and rotifers are inoculated in the liquid in the tank 5, and cultured continuously consuming the algae as a feed. When the culturing liquid in the tank 5 becomes clear, wolffia and duckweed are cultured in the liquid. The grown wolffia and duckweed are added with deathwatch beatles to establish the symbiosis of the wolffia, etc. and the beatles, and inoculated in the tank 5 to culture the deathwatch beatles on the leaves of wolffia and duckweed. The cultured deathwatches are used as the feed for fish together with wolffia and duckweed. The effluent water is discharged from the outlet 6 of the tank 5.
