Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the resistance of air against flying ink drips and remove satallites simultaneously by a method wherein an air-sucking means producing an air stream in the same direction with an ink-jet stream is provided unitedly with a charging electrode. CONSTITUTION:On the circumferential surface of a groove part partitioning a charging-electrode ring 5 in two inside a charging electrode 20 are provided plural number of air-sucking orifices 24, communicating the inside of the charging-electrode ring 5 with a cavity 21. When the air-sucking means is made to operate simultaneously with jetting of ink-jet particles, the air in the charging electrode 5 is sucked through a pipe 23, thus an air stream A being produced. By making the orifice small opening 22, on air stream in the radius direction perpendicular to the flying direction of particles is produced, whereby satellite drips can be collected. In addition, the inertia at the time of air suction causes another air stream B, whereby the resistance of air which the ink-jet particles meet up to the time when they are deflected by the deflecting electrode can be reduced.
