Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the degree of optical multiplex by narrowing the light emitting spectrum of each light emitting diode by the optical filters. CONSTITUTION:The signals applied to input terminals 9 and 10 of optical transmitters 1 and 2 are turned into the photosignals via light emitting diodes 7 and 8, and then enter multiplexing circuit 11 through optical filters 3 and 4 which have no overlap of the pass bands. Circuit 11 compounds the outputs of filters 3 and 4 to send the composite output to transmission line 12. The output light of line 12 is converted into the electric output via optical brancing filter circuit 13 plus optical receivers 14 and 15 each to be delivered to terminals 20 and 21. Thus the light emitting diode having the light emitting spectra overlapping substantially can be used since the light emitting spectrum of the light emitting diode is narrowed by the optical filters. As a result, the degree the optical multiplex can be increased.
