Abstract

PURPOSE: To accomplish reduction in the time required for electrophoresis analysis and complete separation of ion seed by mounting a column filled with a cation exchange resin membrane which is exchanged with a cation able to form less water soluble or nonwater soluble inorganic compound selectively combined with halogen ion.
CONSTITUTION: A liquid sample is poured from above a halogen ion removing column 7 filled with a strongly acid cation exchange resin which is exchanged with a cation such as silver ion and Tl ion able to form less water soluble or nonsoluble inorganic compound selectively combined with halogen ion. The liquid passing through the column 7 fills the weighting tube 8 and the surplus sample is discharged through a drain passage 9. Then, the 6 way cock 3 is switched from the state of the solid line to that of the broken line in the figure. Subsequently, current flows between a leading electrolytic cell 6 and a terminal electrolytic cell 2 to effect electrophoresis. A fixed amount of the sample in the tube 8 and the sample existing in passages 11 and 12 of the cock 3 as shown by the solid line are led to the capillary tube 5 and then, detected with the detector 4 after separation.
