Abstract

PURPOSE: To accurately and quickly convert the function, by referring to processes for reading output voltage at prescribed time intervals and to a memory for flow rates corresponding to the output voltages of a hot-wire type flowmeter which have various discrete values, about the output voltages to pick out a flow rate.
CONSTITUTION: The voltage, which shows the instantaneous flow velocity of sucked air to an engine, is applied from the hot-wire type flowmeter 1 to a lead 20. An analogue/digital converter 2 connected to the output 20 of the flowmeter 1 samples the output voltage applied to the lead 20, in accordance with timing pulses supplied by a timing pulse generator 6, to convert the output voltage into a corresponding digital quantity. At every time when the flow velocity Vin is read, a computer 7 refers to a table in a memory on the basis of the flow velocity, instead of performing calculation according to a biquadratic equation Q=(V2-Vo2)2, to determine the quantity of the sucked air. The quantity of the sucked air is thus quickly and accurately measured.
