Abstract

PURPOSE: To perfectly perform titled removing in continuation to scarfing by parting a burner blowing out oxygen from slab surface right after scarfing and relatively moving in the end fin end direction while decreasing the rate of oxygen blow out.
CONSTITUTION: Right after the end of spot scarfing of the defect part of a slab 2, a burner 9 is lifted upward by a hydraulic cylinder 10 and is thereby parted from the slab 2 surface. In this case, the upward moving distance Y is made such a distance at which the root part of an end fin 27 positions on the extension line in the oxygen blowing direction from the blow hole 25 of the burner 10. If oxygen is blown out through the blow hole 25 at a reduced rate of oxygen supply by controlling an automatic valve at the same instant of lifting the burner 10, the fin 27 is still in a molten state and is therefore scatfed away by reacting with oxygen. At the scrafing of the fin 27, the slab 2 is slightly moved in the arrow A direction by a roller table car 1 whereby the fin 27 is completely scarfed.
