Abstract

PURPOSE: To inexpensively obtain a sintered metallic material having satisfactory sliding characteristics by sintering a metallic material having a specified composition contg. Cu, Ni, etc. at a specified temp. and adjusting the cooling rate to from about 800°C to 500W2,000°C/hr.
CONSTITUTION: A metallic material consisting of 0.5W5% Cu, 0.5W4% Ni, 2W 2.5% Mo, 0.1W2% S, 0.8W4% C and the balance Fe and satisfying the relation of Cu+Ni≥1.5% is sintered at 950W1,200°C, and the cooling rate at about 800°C is adjusted to 500W2,000°C/hr. The S component is added using an org. lubricant and a metal sulfide such as MoS2 or FeS having lubricity or not having lubricity. Thus, a sintered metallic material having high hardness and superior lubricating characteristics is obtd. cheaply without requiring many processes for working unlike a conventional method.
