Abstract

PURPOSE: To take accurate distance measurement by detecting a photodetector that has the maximum quantity of photodetected light by reducing a narrowed-down flash from a light emission unit through a slit aperture and by comparing it to a reference voltage that decreases according to respective quantities of photodetected light of a group of photodetectors arrayed in a light at right angles to the slit hole.
CONSTITUTION: Light emission part 1 is provided with flash discharge tube 2, reflective umbrella 3, slit aperture 4, and lens system 5 and a flash passed through slit aperture 4 is narrowed down by lens system 5 into a thin beam. Light reflected by measured object 6 is photodetected by the photodetector that includes lens system 9 and a group of photodetecting elements arrayed at right angles to slit aperture 4. Interval AD between light emission part 1 and photodetection part 7 and focal distance DE of lens system 9 of photodetection part 7 are freely set, so that the distance can easily be measured by finding while photodetecting element in photodetecting element group 8 has detected the reflected light from the unknown object.
