Abstract
PURPOSE: An agricultural multifilm designed for displaying biodegradability in natural environment or under aerobic conditions, by forming the film from a polyester-amide of a specific structure.
CONSTITUTION: Auxiliary additives such as a plasticizer and a filler are added to a molding material comprising a copolymer consisting of a plurality of alternately bonded blocks A and B, wherein A is an ester block comprising a low MW aliphatic polyester and B is an amide block comprising a low MW aliphatic polyamide. The resulting mixture is formed into sheets by use of, for example, an extruder or a calendering machine. In order to effect the ester-amide exchange in the preparation of said copolymer, a mixture of the polyester and the polyamide is heated in an inert gas to a temperature higher than any of their melting points, and the reaction is continued until the reaction product shows a distinct m.p. depression from the boiling points of the materials.
