Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the influence of a torque in the opposite direction and transmit a larger torque by a method wherein the tip-end width of projecting portion provided on the coupling members on the driving and driven sides is set to be smaller than one half of the pitch of the projecting portions. CONSTITUTION:One of driving and driven shafts 1, 4 is provided with an electromagnetic coil 5, which attracts the other shaft. A driving member 2 and a driven member 3 are provided at their coupling surfaces with projecting portions 23, 31, which mesh each other to transmit the torque. The tip-end width W of each of the projecting portions is set to be smaller than one half of the pitch P of the projecting portions. Accordingly, it is possible to reduce the influence of the torque of the opposite direction to prevent the cancelation of the torques as much as possible and to obtain a maximum transmission torque.
