Abstract
PURPOSE:To simplify a circuit by providing a phase modulating circuit that modulates the output signal phase of VCO equivalently by discriminating the level of the output signal of a waveform shaping circuit on the basis of the output voltage of a skew-distortion detecting circuit. CONSTITUTION:Phase modulating circuit 7 generates an output of H when the potential of output (c) of waveform shaping circuit 5 is higher than that of output (j) of skew-distortion detecting circuit 6 and also generates an output of L when lower. Further, this output phase is modulated in accordance with the output voltage of circuit 6. In this case, linearity between skew distortion and phase shifting depends upon the inclination of signal (c), but since the output voltage of phase detector 3 based upon the inclination of signal (c) is held in detection itself for the skew distortion, it is unrelated to the inclination of singal (c). Therefore, the need for a linearity correcting circuit is eliminated. Further, since the skew distortion corresponds to phase modulation at 1:1, an adjusting circuit for equalizing the absolute value of the skew distortion to phase modulation is unneeded.
