Then, circuit 30 generates and detects pattern F, pattern (f), a resignation pattern, and on- hook pattern. For transparent transmission, circuit 31 inserts ''0'' after every 5th ''1'' when sending data containing not less than five continuous ''1''s and then remove inserted ''0'' in reception. Further, circuit 32 adds FCS to a transmitted data frame and checks FCS of a received data frame to inspect an error.
